Special interests
Dr Siriwardana has a special interest in minimally invasive robotic surgery of the prostate and kidney, with a particular focus on prostate cancer. He has completed comprehensive sub-specialty training in robotic radical prostatectomy, including nerve-sparing techniques to help preserve urinary and sexual function. His expertise also covers robotic partial and radical nephrectomy for the management of kidney tumours, as well as robotic pyeloplasty for the treatment of PUJ obstruction. Additionally, Dr Siriwardana performs endoscopic stone disease surgery and benign prostate surgery, as well as manages a broad range of general urology issues.

Education and medical training
Dr Siriwardana grew up in the regional town of Armidale, New South Wales, and obtained his undergraduate medical degree at the University of New South Wales in Sydney. He earned a Master of Surgery (Surgical Sciences) from the University of Sydney while working as a junior doctor. Dr Siriwardana gained valuable research experience as a prostate cancer research fellow at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney under Professor Phillip Stricker in 2016. After completing specialist urology training as a Queensland Urology Trainee, he was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS Urology) in February 2023.
He then undertook sub-specialty training, completing a 12-month Robotic Urology Fellowship at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Brisbane. This was followed by a 12-month International Uro-Oncology Fellowship focusing on robotic prostate and kidney surgery at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, United Kingdom. During his time overseas, Dr Siriwardana also completed observerships in minimally invasive robotic surgery and focal therapy for prostate cancer at the St Antonius Hospital in Utrecht, The Netherlands, and at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London, United Kingdom.
Other interests
Dr Siriwardana has a keen interest in teaching and research, and has contributed to several international peer-reviewed publications, particularly in the area of prostate cancer. He is actively involved in teaching urology registrars and fellows with his public hospital appointments. Having grown up in a regional town, Dr Siriwardana is also dedicated to improving regional healthcare delivery and expanding access to specialist medical services in non-metropolitan areas.
Outside of professional practice, Dr Siriwardana enjoys spending time with his young family, surfing, running and keeping active.
